As a recent North Island import to Canterbury, I am somewhat new to the world of outdoor bouldering.
I find the falls outdoors to be quite confronting in comparison to falling in a well-protected indoor gym, meaning that, for me, having the right gear is a game-changer.
Having a pad I can trust doesn’t only improve safety, but allows me to more easily focus on the climbing in the moment.
I found the Organic Full Pad ticked all the boxes for me. At a superficial level, it comes in a variety of lovely colours (which I very much appreciate). The thickness and firmness also seems to lie in the Goldilocks zone for boulder pads: not too soft, not too hard.
I’m sure most climbers are well accustomed to the game of Tetris when packing cars with pads and people for trips out to the hill. I’m happy to report that my Corolla can easily fit three (maybe even four) of these pads, along with three people!
For those who prefer to climb alone, the Full Pad’s strapping feature allows for carrying multiple pads at once.
I must admit I’ve come to loathe taco pads, as they never seem to unfold properly. I love that the Full Pad is hinged, as it provides so many more options for pad arrangements. Overall, I think the Full Pad is a worthy addition to anyone’s pad arsenal.
Organic pads are available to purchase from the Uprising Pro-shop now.
