What is the Summer Sends Series?
Now in it’s 7th season, Summer Sends is a friendly competition series, where no matter your climbing ability, you can compete, win prizes and do it all whilst raising money for the Aotearoa Climbing Access Trust (ACAT). Young or young at heart, just starting out or elite-level crusher, there will be boulders for you.
Not only that, but the 8-week series leads into a full World Cup style finals event on Saturday Feb 21st that will see Christchurch’s finest competitors battle for the CASH PRIZE podium. A celebration of the skill and dedication it takes to be a climbing athlete, and an awesome show for spectators.
This year we are expanding the finals weekend to include a Youth Finals for our up-and-coming crushers to show their skills on Sunday Feb 21st.
What is ACAT?
ACAT – The Aotearoa Climbing Access Trust are the folks out there protecting climbing access for all climbers — negotiating with landowners, educating climbers, cleaning up crags and ensuring access to our climbing areas that will last lifetimes.
The Uprising community have raised over $30,000 for ACAT since Summer Sends began. Your donations enable them to continue their critical NZ climbing access and advocacy work. Access to all the rocky wonders on our doorstep is a huge privilege, and we want that access to last generations. Without the support of the climbing community, ACAT cannot do this work.

Rules, Scores and Finals
Summer Sends operates on a scaled points system, where the fewer people that top a boulder, the more points it’s worth. More incentive to finish those projects! If you climb a boulder first go, you log it as a Flash. This scores you a 20% bonus.
Boulders set between Tuesday 1st December and 4th Feb will be part of the competition. The two Xmas Bonus Sets Dec 22nd and 29th will be worth prizes but not points, giving you a chance to catch up on boulders from the previous weeks or take a break for the holidays. The last set goes up on Feb 4th and the last chance to send will be Sunday 14th Feb. Make sure you’ve logged all of your climbs before then!
The top 20 scores in the open categories will be invited back to the Grand Final event on Saturday 20th Feb. This event is FREE for spectators and is always a proper show, so get it in your calendar.
The top 8 youth in each of the youth categories will be invited back to their very own Youth Finals on Sunday 21st Feb.
