What is the Summer Sends Series?
Summer Sends is an 8-week friendly competition series, where no matter your climbing ability, you can compete, win prizes and do it all whilst raising money for the Aotearoa Climbing Access Trust (ACAT). Young or young at heart, just starting out or elite-level crusher, there will be boulders for you.
Not only that, but the 8-week series leads into a full World Cup style finals event that will see Christchurch’s finest competitors battle for the CASH PRIZE podium, with $2k in cash prizes and more up for grabs. A celebration of the skill and dedication it takes to be a climbing athlete, and an awesome show for spectators.
What is ACAT?
ACAT – The Aotearoa Climbing Access Trust are the folks out there protecting climbing access for all climbers — negotiating with landowners, educating climbers, cleaning up crags and ensuring access to our climbing areas that will last lifetimes.
The Uprising community have raised over $24,000 for ACAT since Summer Sends began. Your donations enable them to continue their critical NZ climbing access and advocacy work.
How to Enter
Simply register via Top Logger here and make a donation to ACAT at the front desk (minimum $5). If you have donated directly via the ACAT website, simply show us your receipt.
Once you have registered, pick your age category and start logging your sends in the Top Logger App. Please ensure your username on Top Logger makes you identifiable if you want to be in with the chance to win a prize!
Rules, Scores and Finals
Summer Sends operates on a scaled points system, where the fewer people that top a boulder, the more points it’s worth. More incentive to finish those projects! If you climb a boulder first go, you log it as a Flash. This scores you a 20% bonus.
All boulders set between Monday 12th January and Sunday 8th March will be part of the competition. You will have one week after the last Summer Sends set goes up to polish off any projects, film your favourite climbs, egg on your mates etc. — the last chance to send will be Sunday 15th March. Make sure you’ve logged all of your climbs before then!
The top 20 scores in the open categories will be invited back to grand final event on Saturday 21st March.
Podium finishers for both Opens Male/Non-binary and Opens Female/Non-binary categories will bag for themselves:
1st — $500 + 6-month Uprising membership
2nd — $300 + 3-month Uprising membership
3rd — $200 + 1-month Uprising membership
