Summer Sends Series 2023

Summer Sends Series 2023

Wrap Up & Results

Finals Day was a great event. Thanks to everyone who came down to support the climbers.

And thanks to everyone who entered the series this year, made a donation to the Aotearoa Climbing Access Trust, bought a Summer Sends tee-shirt, crushed a Bounty Boulder, or bought a second-hand chalkbag. 100% of the proceeds of all of the above go directly to ACAT, and together we’ve raised almost $5K to improve access to rock climbing areas around New Zealand.

Thanks again to series sponsors Tenaya, Petzl, and Uprising Industries.

Finals Day – Saturday March 18.

Summers Sends Finals Day is nearly here!!

This is always such a good event. Uprising will be open to spectators to come down and cheer on Christchurch’s best boulderers in this IFSC World Cup style comp.

In the spirit of this fun, social series, the finals event won’t be super-serious at all; it’s more about having fun, getting loud, supporting the finalists, enjoying a pizza-and-pint special, and maybe winning a sweet spot-prize from one of our series sponsors Tenaya, Petzl, and Uprising Industries.

Schedule

Semi Finals

  •  10:00am-12:00pm Women/Non-Binary.
  • 12:30pm-2:30pm Men/Non-Binary.

Finals

  •  4:00pm-5:30pm Women/Non-Binary.
  •  6:00pm-7:30pm Men/Non-Binary.

The Comp walls, Cave area and the Boat will be closed from Wednesday 15 March for route-setting.

The bouldering gym will be open for climbing from 9:00am – 4:00pm on Saturday, but with limited access, as some of the walls will be reserved for the competition.

Apologies for these inconveniences.

Comp Day Specials

  • Any small pizza and tap beer only $20 until 6:00pm.
  • All Tenaya shoes are 20% off for the whole weekend!

BONUS ROUNDS

We’re spicing the series up by adding something new into the mix with each fortnightly Thursday set.

Bonus Bounty Boulders are up on the Boat and in the Corridor. Look for the orange “Bonus Bounty Boulder” tags.

Every send of the Boat Bounty Boulder can raise a $10 donation to the Aotearoa Climbing Access Trust from Uprising, and if anyone sends the Corridor Bounty Boulder we’ll make a one-off donation of $1000 to ACAT! First to send the Corridor Bounty Boulder also gets a limited-edition Summer Sends tank or tee.
Here’s how:

  • Film your send of the Bounty Boulder
  • Upload to Insta or Facebook
  • Tag Uprising and Aotearoa Climbing Access Trust

A Wildcard Round is up on the Comp Slabs.

Each boulder is dual-colour and ungraded. This will give you guys a chance to climb on holds you wouldn’t normally get in your grade range. It also pushes the setting team’s creativity in coming up with new moves and ideas.

Summer Sends tees and tanks.

We have a one-off limited-edition run of Summer Sends tees and tanks in at the Uprising Pro-shop now. All proceeds from the sale of these go directly to the Aotearoa Climbing Access Trust.

Entry to the series is by donation to the trust. To rep one of these sweet tees or tanks, simply make your donation $35 or more, or sign up for a recurring donation of at least $5 per month.
