Wrap Up & Results
Finals Day was one of the best we’ve had at Uprising!
Thanks to everyone who came down to support the climbers and made it such a great event.
Also thanks to everyone who entered the series this year, made a donation to the Aotearoa Climbing Access Trust, bought a second-hand chalkbag, or bought a Summer Sends bucket hat (we still have some of these left, you can get yours from the Pro-shop at Uprising).
All the proceeds of all of the above go directly to ACAT, and through this year’s series we’ve raised almost $4K to improve access to rock climbing areas around New Zealand.
Thanks again to series sponsors Climb Craft, Tenaya, Climbing Anchors and Cactus Outdoor.
Bevan Triebels from Triebels Photography was our photographer for the Finals Event. You can check out a selection of his images here. These images are available to purchase – please contact Bevan directly.
In a world-first for Christchurch indoor boulder comps, this year we offered cash prizes to Open category podium finishers!

The Summer Sends Series is an all-abilities comp. It’s about having fun, challenging yourself and your mates, and is for anyone and everyone who loves bouldering.
This year the series is going to be bigger than ever before, with more prizes, more boulders, more psyche and a new tagging system!
As in previous years, entry is by donation, with all proceeds going to the Aotearoa Climbing Access Trust.
You can donate directly via the ACAT website, and simply show us your online receipt.
Alternatively, you can make your donation at the front desk at Uprising.
ACAT are the folks out there protecting climbing access for all climbers — negotiating with landowners, educating climbers, cleaning up crags and ensuring access to our climbing areas that will last lifetimes.
The Uprising Summer Sends Series has raised thousands of dollars for ACAT in previous years. Your donations will enable them to continue their critical NZ climbing access and advocacy work.
Donate whatever you can afford, the minimum for entry to this comp is only $2!
We have heaps of sweet spot prizes from Tenaya, Climbing Anchors, Cactus Outdoor, Uprising, Climb Craft and Select holds. Think climbing shoes, memberships, holds, merch etc.
The top 20 Male/Non-binary and Female/Non-binary competitors will be invited back for an IFSC World Cup style Finals event on Saturday 23 March.
This is always a huge night, with top-level bouldering performances, pumping tunes, and a psyched crowd.
Plus -in a world-first for NZ indoor boulder comps, this year we are offering CASH PRIZES for podium finishes in each category at the finals event!
1st = $500 + 6-month Uprising membership
2nd = $250 + 3-month Uprising membership
3rd = $150 + 1-month Uprising membership
The first round starts Monday 15 January.
New boulders are set every week for all abilities, plus there will be bonus boulders set throughout the series.
We’ll be rolling out our new numerical tagging system for all boulders from the start of the series.
1 is the easiest, 7 is the hardest. Follow the same colour of holds from start to finish for each boulder.
Register your climbs on Toplogger from 15 Jan. You can download the app, or use the web portal at toplogger.nu. (Please ensure your username on Toplogger makes you identifiable if you want to be in with the chance to win a prize).
Comp Format
There will be one boulder of each difficulty (1-7) set per week. Find each week’s new boulders on Toplogger.
Log your climbs on Toplogger to gain points for every boulder you top.
All boulders are left up for the entire duration of the comp. So climbs can be topped and points registered right up until the final day of the competition.
Look out for “Bonus Boulders” throught the comp, which will be comp-style and only stay up for a shorter period.
