New Weekly Training Workshops

Level up your climbing with new weekly training workshops every Wednesday evening!

Training and fitness isn’t just for gym bros – getting familiar with the Uprising fitness area is one of the best ways to efficiently build strength, prevent injury, and become a more confident climber. Guided by Lee, an experienced strength & conditioning coach and owner of ATP Coaching & Performance, these weekly workshops will help you to train smarter (not just harder!), move better on the wall, and keep your body happy.

Starting from Wednesday 22nd July at 6:00pm, workshops will alternate between a general Intro to Fitness & Training, and a series of specialised topics covering a range of training areas. Check out the Training & Fitness class timetable here to see what’s coming up next!

As with all of our regular classes, these training workshops are all FREE with Uprising membership (total steal, considering Lee’s experience) and have limited availability, so get in quick. If you are not a Uprising member, each class is $24 inclusive of gym entry.


Intro to Fitness & Training – Wednesdays Fortnightly | 6:00pm – 7:00pm

These Intro to Fitness & Training workshops are for anyone who is seeking guidance in the fitness gym – whether you’ve never set foot in there before, or simply aren’t sure where to start. Lee will begin with the basics, starting off with equipment use, gym etiquette and safety. As you become more familiar with the fitness gym, Lee will build on these foundations, showing you how to use the equipment effectively for everything from warming up properly to developing good training technique.

If you want to understand all things gym related, this is for you!

 

Specialist Training Workshops – Wednesdays Fortnightly | 6:00pm – 7:00pm

Week 1 – Shoulder Health for Climbers  >> Book Now

Keeping the shoulders strong and healthy is a must for everyone. Climbers spend a lot of time training their fingers, but their shoulders often get neglected. In this shoulder clinic, Lee will address some of the most common issues he deals with when it comes to shoulder injuries and how to avoid them. Whether you’re new to climbing or a seasoned athlete, these sessions will build your knowledge of how to keep your shoulders strong!

Week 2 – Women’s Strength & Pull-up Progression  >> Book Now

Learn the skill and technique to develop your pull-up game. Whether you are currently looking to do your first pull-up or struggling to push past a plateau, this workshop will help you get your chin over the bar! Lee will cover the necessary foundations to perform pull-ups safely, beginning with bodyweight pull-ups and the progression through to weighted pull-ups.

Week 3 – Energy System Development  >> Book Now

Looking to increase the amount of time you can spend on the wall or improve your recovery? Developing your energy systems is complex process. This introduction clinic will help you understand the importance of this type of training and how to implement it into your session.

Week 4 – Core & Tension (Use and Development)  >> Book Now

There’s more to the core than having a six pack. This clinic will help you understand how to build functional core strength, and more importantly, how to apply it on the wall.

Week 5 – Fixing Common Efficiency Leaks (V0-V6)  >> Book Now

Climbing in a relaxed and smooth way is the hallmark of any skilled climber. This workshop will cover various techniques to increase your efficiency and improve your performance.

Week 6 – Beyond V6  >> Book Now

We often encounter climbers progressing quickly to V5-V6, but what then? So many people get stuck here and struggle to find a way to progress without injury or with inconsistent results. In this targeted workshop, Lee will address some common training mistakes and focus on key areas for progression such as creating & applying tension, mobility and building a strength reserve. Suitable for anyone stuck at V5/V6 (tags 5-7).

Week 7 – Effective Session Management  >> Book Now

Not everyone has time to ‘train’. This workshop will focus on ways to use your time to maximise the productivity of your session. We’ll target skill development, strength & conditioning, and protocols to improve your climbing in an efficient manner.

Week 8 – Training for the Aging Athlete 40+  >> Book Now

You may have years of experience under your belt, but the body is keeping score. This workshop will provide you with tools to ensure you keep the body in check and can continue to do what you love for years to come!

Owner of ATP Coaching & Performance, Lee is a certified Strength & Conditioning Coach and Trainer. He has a thirty year climbing history and has climbed all over the world to a high level in all disciplines. He combines his extensive skills and experience with a high degree of academic knowledge.
