Uprising will be hosting New Zealand’s top boulderers this Saturday 20th September as they compete for the chance to represent NZ on the world stage.
As you might expect, there will be areas of the gym unavailable for use as we prepare for the competition. Here’s what you need to know:
- WEDNESDAY – the Boat and Comp Overhang will be out of action from late afternoon/evening as these walls get stripped.
- THURSDAY/FRIDAY – the Boat, Comp Overhang, Sendworm, Barrel, and Cave will be closed for the Climbing NZ routesetting team to work their magic. The entire slab area and corridor will be open, as will the fitness area, Moonboard, and Circuit Board.
- SATURDAY – the slabs and Corridor will be open for climbing until 3:30pm, after which Uprising will be open for spectating only. All other walls plus the Fitness and Training areas are closed all day.
Yoga and Blocland will operate as normal.
Head to the event page on Climbalong for full details. Registrations close 8pm this Wednesday 17th September – if you’re thinking about it, there’s still time to sign up!
Keen to spectate on Saturday?
You’re in for a treat – spectating is welcome all day! If you need a snack, the Uprising Cafe will be running $16 Chips & Pint and $20 Pizza & Pint specials from 12pm.
- 4:15pm – U17 Finals
- 5:50pm – U19 and Opens Finals
- 7:45pm – Prizegiving
Make sure you check back in next week – comp problems will stay up after the weekend, and our routesetting team will be back next Monday with a MEGA set to fill in the gaps!
