Uprising Photo Competition

Uprising Photo Competition

Got an eye for a great shot? Enter the inaugural Uprising Photo Comp!

They say if it’s not on camera – did it even happen..? Well, here’s your chance to prove it did! We want to see your best snaps of climbing, yoga, and all the adventures in between. Enter the 2025 Uprising Photo Competition and you may get to see your adventures up on the walls here (potentially even next to the wall of doggos). Categories include:

Climbing

You may submit multiple photos in the Climbing category, but each photo can only be submitted into ONE of the following subcategories:

Indoor (Uprising only)

Show us your best pics of bouldering here at Uprising – it could be your favourite problem, the golden sunset rays slipping past the front desk and hitting the Cave just so, or a hype photo from Summer Sends, if it’s a climbing photo taken here in the gym, you can enter it in this category.

Outdoor (NZ-wide)

Whether you’re a boulderer, sport or trad climber, even you ice axe-wielding alpinists, we love it all! Show us what you’ve been getting up to on NZ’s many stunning pebbles, crags, and mountains in the Outdoor Climbing category.

Up Close and Personal

Got an artsy close-up of chalky digits on a hold? Or a portrait shot of your mate that shows every drop of sweat being squeezed out as they hit the crux of their project at Flock Hill? This may be the category for you.

Yoga

You may submit multiple photos in the Yoga category, but each photo can only be submitted into ONE of the following subcategories:

Indoor (Uprising or home practice only)

Capture your flow in the Uprising Yoga studio (sorry, we can’t accept entries photographed at other studios!), or share a glimpse of your personal home practice.

Outdoor (NZ-wide)

From rocky mountain ledges to tranquil backyard gardens, show us yoga in the wild! Wherever and however nature inspires your practice, in the stillness of pranayama or focused power of an arm balance, those are the moments we want to see.

Up Close and Personal

The human body is beautiful and capable of amazing things – we want to see a focus on the beauty of form for this category, with portraits or close-up shots that highlight the details, lines, and expressions of yoga.

Youth

If you have an epic photo that falls under one of the above categories, and you are 18 years or younger on 2 November 2025, you can opt to enter it into the Youth category!

Pet Adventures / Crag Dogs

Just for fun! We know how many of you are animal lovers and are often accompanied by a furry companion to the gym or crag. Maybe your dog is your best cheerleader, or their inner lion comes out when they visit the crag?

Photos will be judged based on artistic merit by the Uprising team, with the the best photos taking pride of place on our walls! Winners of each Climbing and Yoga subcategory and the Youth category will also receive 2 month’s free membership at Uprising. You don’t need to be smashing V12s to have the best photo!
