Matariki Yoga Day

Matariki Yoga Day

The heart of winter is approaching and the reappearance of the cluster of stars known as Matariki is soon upon us, marking the celebration of the Maori New Year.

Matariki is a time to reflect on the year that’s been, show gratitude for the present and set our intentions for the year ahead.

We have crafted a day for just those purposes. There will be a variety of yoga classes; sun salutations and chanting, guided reflections and yoga nidra, as well as our usual morning Group Practice and Hatha classes. The day will finish with shared kai and chai.

  • Saturday 25 June.
  • Free for Uprising Members, $10 per class for non-members.
  • Free kai and chai at 6:00pm.
  • Join us for the whole day, or for as many classes as you wish.

Schedule:

Morning: Regular Group Practise & Hatha classes.

1:30pm: Sun Salutations, with Amaya.

3:00pm: Chanting, with Helen.

4:00pm: Reflect & Renew, with Krista.

5:00pm: Yoga Nidra, with Jessie.

6:00pm: Kai & chai (free for participants).

Ka mahuta a Matariki I te pae, ka mahuta ō tatou tūmanako ki te tau.

When Matariki rises above the horizon, our aspirations rise to the year ahead.
