  • For the first week we will be open to members and concession-card holders only.
  • Memberships will re-activate from Thursday 14 May.
  • There will be a maximum occupancy limit in place.
  • Hand sanitising stations are set up around the facility, it is mandatory that these are used regularly.
  • Social distancing measures must be observed.
  • Every visitor must register.

  • Following the announcement today from the NZ Government of an upgrade to the Covid-19 Alert Level system, we are immediately closing our facility.

In these uncertain times we want to thank our staff and community for your support so far. We’re going to miss you all during the closure.

    • Autopay memberships: We are freezing all memberships effective immediately (23 March). We understand that everyone needs to tighten their belts in this time of uncertainty, but if you do have the means to continue with your autopayments during the closure, this would go a long way towards enabling us to continue paying our staff, and securing the future of Uprising. To unfreeze your membership, please contact us at [email protected].
    • Prepaid memberships: We will extend your membership for the length of time Uprising is closed for, this includes memberships that expire during the closure. As soon as we are able to reopen we’ll be in touch to clarify your membership status.
    • Concession card holders: The expiry of all concession cards and vouchers will be extended by the length of time Uprising is closed for.

We’ll be doing absolutely everything we can to keep our staff in employment and ensure Uprising opens again as the vibrant hub for our wonderful Christchurch bouldering and yoga community.

    Covid-19 Update 22 March.

The new 4-phase alert system is in place and at time of writing NZ is at Level 2 – Reduce.

According to the government guidelines, we are open with strict 100-person limits on capacity. If you are feeling unwell, stay away – also it is advised that those over 70 or with other existing medical conditions remain at home.

The Uprising Cafe has been rearranged to ensure a minimum 1m between guests and a guest register is in place as per Ministry of Health guidelines.

We continue our significantly increased frequency and intensity of cleaning of all spaces such as door handles, railings, fitness equipment, cafe areas and front desk surfaces throughout the day.

We have put up signage to help remind everyone about how to help prevent the spread of germs.

    Covid-19 Update 19 March.

    Dear Uprising friends and community,

We want to let you all know that the safety of our community and staff is our highest priority.

In light of the Covid-19 situation, we’ve taken some informed steps to do our bit in protecting your health.

We have implemented significant increases to the frequency and intensity of cleaning of all spaces such as door handles, railings, fitness equipment, cafe areas and front desk surfaces throughout the day.

We have put up signage to help remind everyone about how to help prevent the spread of germs.

Yoga class sizes will be limited to 10 people so we can keep optimal spacing in the studio.

In accordance with today’s announcement from the NZ Government, we have implemented a maximum cap of 100 people in the bouldering facility at any one time.

Based on our recent visitor numbers, we don’t expect to exceed the limit, but if you are considering coming down for a climb during a weekday evening (our peak times) please be aware that there’s a possibility we won’t be able to let you in.

Now is a great time to sneak in a daytime session if you’re able to, when the gym is quiet.

We will be constantly monitoring the situation and will keep you updated as soon as anything changes, but for now we want you to know that we’re open.

The bouldering wall is stacked with fun and challenging problems, yoga classes are running to the normal schedule and our café is serving fresh, nourishing food and drink.

Now is the time for us to reiterate the importance of social support and staying healthy.

We love having you at Uprising, but if you are feeling at all unwell please stay at home.

You can help by adhering to the Ministry of Health Covid-19 health guidelines:
